Remedial Massage

A Remedial massage is a therapy which has its roots in old Egypt, Greek and Far Eastern Civilizations.

It uses the elements of a Swedish massage, Deep Tissue massage, Sports massage, as well as Osteopathy and Physiotherapy.

As a holistic type of a massage it influences the whole human body and covers both muscular and skeletal dysfunctions, and supports our health in general. Its effects go beyond the symptoms of our pain because it influences the actual cause of our disorder and supports the body's natural healing mechanism. The technique treats not only already gained injuries and reduces current pains but it also works as prevention from the future wound and ailments.

The Remedial massage treats muscle, ligament and tendon problems. The therapist applies the pressure along the muscle tissue in order to restore the natural range of movement. This also causes a better blood circulation to the soft tissue and drains out undesirable toxins from the human body. A passive stretching and physical manipulation is also used during the therapy and you will be expected to wear minimum clothes as a lubricating medium will be applied directly to the skin.

Benefits

-          better blood circulation and reduction of toxins

-          calms down the nervous system

-          relief of the muscle tension and stress

-          reduces swelling and inflammation and supports the body's natural healing process by increasing the lymphatic flow to and from the massaged area

-          correction of the muscle fibre and flexibility to the joints

-          relaxation of the muscle tension and stiffness

-          better immunity in the treated areas of the body

The Remedial massage is very effective as a cure to a whole list of injuries and ailments: migraines, insomnia, fibrositis, circulation problems, muscular tension and supercharge, tendonitis, whiplash injuries, sport wounds, arthirtis, paralysis, back pain, shoulder and neck tension, carpel tunnel syndrome, neurasthenia, post stroke, sinus difficulties, nervous exhaustion, neurasthenia, cramps and spasm after an injury.

However, it is not recommended if you suffer from skin infections, bruising or any wounds and in case you have a muscle tear you should wait until it’s healed properly before you undertake the therapy.  If you are gravid or diabetic you must inform the practitioner before your treatment.

The Remedy massage therapy shouldn’t be painful but before your body gets used to such a treatment you might experience a sheer pain which should disappear after a short while. If this happens and the pain goes beyond your comfort zone don’t hesitate and let your therapist know about it.

It is also important that you don’t expect all your troubles to disappear after one sitting. A complete recovery might be achieved after 1-3 sessions but this might differ widely depending on your health status. You should consult any of your medical issues with your therapist.
