Pregnancy Massage

A Pregnancy Massage is quite new and very specific massage style designed for gravid ladies and their needs to enhance their well being. It’s also called Prenatal Massage and it alleviates discomforts during maternity caused by the persistent growth of the baby and consequential changes in a weight distribution around the mother's body and other maternity related issues. It also leaves a positive impact on a mother after the birth.

The differences between a regular massage and pregnancy massage are different positioning and different supporting of body parts during the treatment. The reason is baby’s and mother’s safety. This can be done by using a special bed or a pillow and upholstery. It’s also important to avoid some body areas and deep or strong massage techniques.

Benefits

-          reduced stress, depression and anxiety

-          reduced swelling in the arms and legs

-          relief of pains and aches in joints and muscles

-          stimulation of the blood flow (increasing blood circulation) and activation of the body systems helping to maintain it’s ultimate functions

-          supports good sleep and reduces fatigue

-          improved hormone regulation (leads to fewer complications during birth and fewer instances of newborn complications)

-          emotional support during maternity

A lot of moms keep asking whether a pregnancy massage is safe.

There are different opinions and researches when it comes to the prenatal massage prior to the second trimester. But after that it’s a perfectly safe therapy with proven results and it can be incorporated to benefit on an overall pre-natal and post-natal health.

It's also very important to mention that the prenatal massage should be performed by a qualified professional and it’s also good to consult your current condition with your GP and a certified experienced massage therapist before you undertake this treatment. Just be aware that you shouldn’t have the pregnancy massage if you are feeling ill, if you are vomiting, have diarrhea, dizziness or fever etc.
