Ayurvedic Marma Massage

Firstly, it is important to understand what Ayurveda is. Ayurveda is a practical and philosophical way of life form ancient India that prescribes conscious living and holistic prevention as keys to a balanced and long life. Ayurveda means ‘the science of life’ has been practiced for over 5,000 years and aims to create harmony within the body. It includes marma massage, a traditional Ayurvedic massage for stimulating vital points. Same points that soldiers in Ancient India targeted to kill the enemy, and on other hand medics targeted to heal wounded soldiers. Simulating or massaging these marma points gives benefits to the area of their locations and improves the function of the connecting organs. It’s very sensual and rejuvenating massage. Ayurvedic massage stimulates or generates the energy resources and helps the flow of vital energy in the individual.

Technique
The massage techniques used include tapping, kneading and squeezing as well as the more traditional massage strokes you would expect. Either way, marma massage is a really useful way to help improve or maintain an individual's health balance.

Benefits
Ayurvedic massage not only relieves back pain, stiffness and sports injuries but also stimulates various bodily organs and systems. It detoxifies and cleanses the body, boosts the effectiveness of the immune system. It also encourages good sleep, keeps healthy people in good health, helps those with medical conditions to improve their overall well-being.

Bare in mind that therapist applies large amounts of infused oils so prepare to be wet. The marma massage itself is approximately 60 to 90 minutes of duration followed by steam bath or warm shower.
