Indian Head / Scalp Massage

Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic holistic healing system that has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. This non-invasive and stimulating treatment embodies areas of shoulders, upper arms, ears, neck, scalp and face. It aims to ease physical tension in the shoulders and neck that is often caused by stress. This holistic therapy is a very effective method to help reduce fatigue, increase vitality and clarity of thought, and to calm the soul.
The scalp and face are then gently but deeply massaged. Oils can optionally be used to improve the condition of the hair.

Benefits

Indian Head Massage works against:
Muscular tension and stiffness in the neck and shoulders, headaches, migraines and eyestrain, sinusitis, insomnia and disturbed sleep, fatigue, anxiety and depression, high blood pressure, dry skin and hair. Indian Head Massage is carried out fully clothed sitting on a chair. It is suitable for all ages and is safe to receive during pregnancy.

Technique
The neck and shoulder muscles are main focus at the beginning of a massage session. It is usually succession of gentle stretches in order to loosen and mobilize upper body muscles and joints. It is followed by a deep but gentle massage of the head and scalp. The scalp and hair are worked on with rubbing and combing movements of the hands and fingers. The ears are manipulated with pressing and pulling actions, which increase circulation and can reduce blood pressure.
Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energized and revitalized and better able to concentrate. Indian Head Massage is carried out fully clothed sitting on a chair.

Following a treatment some clients experience tiredness, dizziness, an increased desire to urinate (as the body eliminates toxins and waste materials) or aching muscles. All of these side effects usually last for no more than a few hours, after which clients generally experience increased energy and alertness.
